The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 is one of the older generation flagship phones that is still popular among consumers today. First released in 2016, this phone had top of the line specs back then. It sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display and uses the Snapdragon 820 processor combined with 4GB of RAM allowing it to perform any task smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 does not boot up after software update issue and other related problems.

S7 Does Not Boot Up After Software Update
Problem: After a big update overnight a few weeks ago, my Galaxy S7 model SM-G930F never boots-up. I have tried all the methods in the troubleshooting, even flashed the phone twice.
When restarts the phone,
- (1) the “SAMSUNG GALAXY S7” logo appears, and
- (2) then turns to only “SAMSUNG” flashing,
- (3) the “Android is starting – Optimising app 49 of 49”.
- (4) Repeat step (2) and (3)
- (5) “installing applications” appears occasionally
In most of time the screen only has “SAMSUNG” flashing
Solution: To fix this problem you will need to start the phone in recovery mode then do the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
- Perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Is Not Charging
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S7 turned off with good battery level today. I plug it in and it will show the lightning bolt and charge symbol, but no charge ever accumulates. Attempting any of the restart key combinations fails, except that if I hold Volume UP, Home, and then hold Power, I am told that this is beginning a process to install a new OS, with volume down supposedly triggering a restart (it triggers power off, no restart), and volume up triggering this install. I do not mess around with such things, so this is very unexpected.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. Once the port is clean try charging the phone using the methods listed below.
- Use a wall charger and charge the phone for 20 minutes.
- Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
- Try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
If the phone charger then try restarting the device by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
If the issue still persists then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Turns Off On Its Own
Problem: A few days ago my phone started turning off by itself. When I turn it back on it says 56% when it just said 85%. The only way it will stay on is if I keep it charged. I tried factory resetting. I’m going to go get the battery fixed later this week. But that costs money so if there’s anything else I can do please let me know.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then it’s very likely that this is already caused by a faulty battery. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
S7 Charger Needs To Be Positioned To Charge Phone
Problem: Dear Team, I bought a Samsung S7 this January. All of a sudden last week the phone started having charging problems. It needs help to be at the right position so the charger can give power to the device. This help, is to rest the end of the cable that enters the phone on something (I use a spoon), so it can make contact and show the charging symbol. However, even when the phone it seems it is charging it takes really long time to charge. Within an hour it charges less than 15%. Is there any way I can fix this issue? Thank you in advance
Solution: In cases like this the first thing that you will need to do is to replace the charging cord with a new one. This will allow you to check if its a damaged cord that is causing the problem. You should also try using a different wall charger to charge the phone. In case the issue persists then try cleaning the charging port with a can of compressed air as sometimes dirt or debris trapped in this port can cause charging problems.
S7 Retrieving Photos From Phone With Damaged Screen
Problem: Hello there! My LCD was a gone case and needs replacements and im not willing to spend on repairs. The phone was still in working condition. Something heavy dropped on it and it was the kinda cracked screen display i saw immediately. The next day, the screen just went black. I have photos and songs that i will want to retrieve it but not sure what to do. Any advice?
Solution: If the screen is black but the phone is still working you can try unlocking the device using the Find My Mobile service of Samsung. Take note that this only works if you have a Samsung account connected with the phone. Once the phone has been unlocked you can then try using Smart Switch to backup your phone data to your computer.
If this does not work then you will need to have the display of the phone repaired first.
