Asus Flip C302A Vs HP Chromebook
Today, we’re looking at the ASUS Flip C302A and the HP Chromebook 14. These two laptops are night and day different from each other, with the former going as a mid-range and the latter being a super low-end budget laptop. For a budget laptop, the Chromebook 14 leans towards the more pricey side, whereas the ASUS Flip sits at about average price for a mid-range Chromebook. The HP Chromebook 14 really is a budget laptop, basically having the bare minimum hardware to keep the lights on. That said, the ASUS Flip knocks it out of the water with a dazzling display and mid-range Intel hardware package.
Best ChromebookThe choice might be obvious right away, but we’ll help you decide which one is right for you and your budget. Be sure to follow along below!First up, we look at the ASUS Flip. It has a gorgeous display. It comes in at 12.5-inches, but packs a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 to give you a Full HD experience. You can play all of your favorite movies and TV shows on this display (even regular video!) and get the crisp clear quality that you would expect out of a premium laptop display. The Full HD resolution also makes text sharp, so reading an article or paper is a breeze. You also get a premium Intel hardware package. In the ASUS Flip, you get two options — you can get the Intel Celeron M3 processor, or you can do an upgrade for a few extra bucks to get the Intel Celeron M5 processor, which is faster and more efficient than the M3. In either model, you get 4GB of RAM, but with the M5 you should get slightly better battery life, since it is more efficient. In either model you get, you’ll also only 64GB of flash storage, which isn’t a whole lot to keep files stored locally; however, the ASUS Flip does come with 100GB of Google Drive space, so that gives you plenty of room to keep stuff in the Cloud. The ASUS Flip has a MacBook Pro-esque design, too. So, even though the laptop will only set you back a few hundred dollars, you’ll have onlookers eyeing up your sleek “MacBook Pro” from afar. This laptop is also super portable; it only weighs 2.65lbs, and has a low profile, so it won’t take up too much space in the backpack or suitcase. You could even carry it around in your hand without a problem. In addition, you get a battery life of up to 10 hours under normal use conditions. That means you can get a full workday out of the ASUS Flip without throwing it back on the charger! For $600 (or $470 for the Celeron M3 model), you get quite a bit out of the ASUS Flip, not to even mention that screen sits on a 360-degree hinge, allowing you to transform it into a laptop or tablet in seconds!Next, we have the budget-level Chromebook 14 by HP. This is a budget laptop through and through, for sure. Starting with the screen, you get 14-inch display that doesn’t look very great. It’s plastic, so it’s the anti-glare screen; however, you only get a resolution of 1,366 x 768, so movies and TV shows won’t look the best on it. You will be able to get by though. The processing package is quite a step down from what the ASUS Flip offers. You still get an Intel Celeron processor, but it’s one of the low end N3350 models. It’s enough to keep the lights on, but don’t expect it to power through any high-end Android app games. Paired with the processor is 4GB of RAM and a meager 16GB of flash storage. It’s not a lot, so you’ll have to be careful of what you store on this laptop; however, you do get 100GB of Google Drive space with your purchase. You shouldn’t have problems with portability with this laptop. It does weigh an extra pound over the ASUS Flip, but it has an 11 1/2 battery rating off of a single charge. You’ll be able to go all day without ever having to plug it in, and that’s thanks to the lower end hardware and less pixels it has to power on the display. The HP Chromebook 14 will set you back $250.If you were looking to get the best out of these two, the ASUS Flip is obviously the way to go. It’s got better hardware and will last you a lot longer over the years. If you don’t have the cash to spend, the HP Chromebook 14 will get you by, but it certainly won’t win any awards. If you have the cash to spend, the ASUS Flip is going to be the most bang for your buck, and your best investment. It’s a good investment because, when you’re ready to sell it, you’ll be able to get a good chunk of your money back to put towards something else — you won’t be able to do that with the HP Chromebook 14.Best ChromebookASUS NovaGo, HP Envy X2 Always-Connected PCs Now Available At Microsoft Store
Now you can get your hands on an Always-Connected PC from the Microsoft Store.Amazon kicked off its Always-Connected PC push earlier today, and now the Microsoft Store is following suit. Both Microsoft's online and retail stores are now stocking the ASUS NovaGo and HP Envy x2, both of which are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 platform. The ASUS NovaGo and HP Envy x2 are some of the first Windows 10 on ARM devices to hit the market. Aside from the Snapdragon chip powering each, both devices pack come with 128GB of storage, up to 22 hours of battery life, and with Windows 10 in S mode on board. Where they differ is in screen size and form factor, with the Envy x2 sporting a 12.3-inch FHD display in a package similar to Microsoft's Surface Pro, and the NovaGo coming in with a 13.3-inch FHD panel in a more traditional convertible laptop configuration.Besides the excellent battery life, the two other main draws for Windows 10 on ARM PCs are a persistent LTE connection and instant-on, which allows you to instantly switch your device out of standby mode – much like your smartphone. We've already had some time to take the Envy x2 out for a spin and found it to be a pretty good performer, albeit with some compromises. The ASUS NovaGo, on the other hand, is fresh on the market, and we'll be taking a closer look at it in the coming weeks. For now, you can check out our previous hands-on for our initial impressions. The HP Envy x2 is available for $999, though you can drop that price by $99 if you're eligible for a student or military discount. Meanwhile, the ASUS NovaGo is available for $699, or $629 with a military or student discount. Both come unlocked, but it's worth noting that Sprint is offering free unlimited data through the end of 2018 for Always-Connected PCs.Is HP (HPQ) Stock Outpacing Its Computer And Technology Peers This Year?
